Hey everyone!

As promised here a message in english..
Sunday I walked to the Bell and Drum Tower. Unfortunately it was quite cold and windy and raining from time to time.. The towers were nice to see, from outside, but from the inside there was actually not much to see. Just the view over Beijings hutongs (old neighbourhoods with small streets and old houses) was great! After I bought the ticket I was searching for the entrance. I saw a large gate, that was like entrance, so I walked in, but then some man called me back, and I had to take the door next to the gate, because that was the entrance. Very stupid, because 2 seconds later I was at the same point inside again haha. When I came down from the tower I saw a door where lots of people were coming out, so I thought it must be kind of a museum.. But I didn't see an entrance! So I just walked in where they were coming out, but then a very angry woman started shouting to me, so I left haha. The nice thing about the towers were the rules to enter, there was written: no spitting! ;-)
After the towers I walked to the Jingshan park, a very nice park near the Forbidden City. There was kind of a small temple on top of the hill with a big Buddha inside. And from there you had a great view over the Forbidden City!
When I came out of the park I was exactly at the north gate of the Forbidden City! So I wanted to enter, but no ticket office anywhere there, and just tourists coming out of the gate.. I saw another girl (tourist) just standing and watching the gate, and watching me. Probably she hoped I would know how to enter. But I didn't. Then I asked the man that was standing at the gate. He didn't speak english at all, but he just showed me a note that said that the entrance was closed from the 2nd of July, so we had to walk all the way around. I walked together with the other girl, from Sydney, and we visited the forbidden city together.. Very very nice to see. The buildings were beautiful! The palace interiorrs I didn't like that much.. They were ok, but it was soooo busy, and all people were trying to take a picture from one window where you could see it best.. I think they didn't even see anything, they just made the picture and left haha.
On monday I was changing hostel. I took a taxi, not to walk too far with my backpack, but the driver just dropped me at the wrong side of the hutong, and I couldn't find my hostel anywhere! I asked everywhere, but nobody knew.. Then in the end I had to walk all the way around the hutong to the other side, to enter over there.. It was more than an hour walk grr.. But the hostel is really great!! Very clean, nice people! The dorm I share with two english girls.. When I was in the hostel bar (great bar!) I saw four of the dutch people we met in the train!! So nice!! They stay in a hostel opposite this one! That afternoon I walked to tiananmen square and to the shopping street close here. There is even an H&M and a Zara! I had lunch at MacDonalds, a double cheese burger, french fries and a coke for just 15 yuan (about 1,70 euro!). That night we went to the night market with some english, german, and finnish people from the hostel. At that market they really sell everything! Snake, silk worms, scorpions.. Iiiiiiii! I didn't try them haha! Some others did. I had just squid and some dumplings, and fruit with sugar around it.. When back in the hostel we had a beer together in the bar here.
Yesterday I went to the summer palace, about one hour from here by metro. The weather was great, sunny, about 15 degrees! I walked the whole day in the park, and saw lots of nice palaces! Unfortunately some of them were closed, because they were renovating them I think.. Whole day there came people to me that wanted a picture from me and them haha! Very funny! I think there were around 5 people that asked me! And some older people that just said: you're so beautiful! Hahahah! They probably had never seen western people before.
Yesterday evening we had dinner with the other guys from the hostel, very good food and cheap! After we went to a bar street, to a nice reggae bar, for some drinks and a shisha..
I'm thinking of going to the great wall tomorrow with a tour.. Or maybe by bus, with the other people of the hostel..
Today I might go to the temple of heaven, or just to walk the streets around here.. I don't know yet..
I'll leave from here on saturday evening by night train to Xi'an..
So, I'll try to upload some pictures..

Kisses, Patty
